Plumbing

Tap repairs and replacements - stop the drip.

A dripping tap isn't just annoying - it wastes water and money. We repair and replace kitchen, bathroom and utility taps, usually in a single visit.

Quiet taps, clean lines, no surprise drips.

Most tap problems come down to a worn cartridge or a tap that's reached the end of its life - and a great many are caused by hard water building up limescale inside the mechanism over time. We carry common spares to fix what we can and recommend replacement when the repair would cost more than a new tap of equivalent quality. If you're in a hard water area, it's worth asking whether a water softener would stop the problem coming back.

What we cover

Tap work we handle every day.

Dripping tap repairs

Cartridges replaced and the seating checked so the fix lasts. Much of the wear we see is hard-water limescale building up inside the tap - so we'll also flag whether a water softener would stop it happening again.

FAQs

Common questions

How much does a tap replacement cost?

Most straightforward kitchen or basin tap replacements are quoted as a fixed price including labour. We'll confirm the cost on site before starting.

Can I supply my own taps?

Yes. We'll fit any quality tap you've bought - just bear in mind that very low-cost taps tend to fail sooner, which we'll flag at the quote.

Why does my new tap drip already?

Usually a debris-trapped cartridge or a flex that's slightly cross-threaded. Both are quick fixes on a return visit if needed.

Can hard water cause my tap to drip?

Very often, yes. Limescale from hard water builds up inside the tap and wears the cartridge, leading to drips that keep returning even after a repair. If you're in a hard water area - and most of Berkshire and South Oxfordshire is - it's worth considering a water softener to protect your taps, shower valves and appliances. See our water softener page for more.

Do you fit outside taps?

Yes - including a properly accessible internal isolation valve and a neat through-wall finish.
