What is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
A UK Government grant for low-carbon heating.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK Government initiative launched to encourage the adoption of low-carbon heating systems among homeowners in England and Wales. It forms part of the Heat and Buildings Strategy, with the goal of reducing carbon emissions from UK homes to meet the 2050 net zero targets.
The scheme is scheduled to run until 2028 with a budget of £450 million. It offers a grant of £7,500 to eligible homeowners to install a new air source or ground source heat pump. Homes currently heated by an oil boiler can potentially receive up to £9,000, as off-gas-grid properties attract a higher level of support. We will confirm the exact figure your property qualifies for before you commit to anything.
How it works
From eligibility check to installation.
1. Check eligibility
We review your property, EPC and existing heating system to confirm you qualify, and whether you can claim £7,500 or up to £9,000 for an oil-heated home.
2. Survey and quote
Our MCS-certified surveyor visits your home, carries out a heat loss calculation and provides a fixed-price quote.
3. We apply for the grant
As an MCS-certified installer, we submit the BUS application on your behalf and manage the voucher process.
4. Installation and commissioning
Once approved, we install your heat pump and deduct the grant from the total cost, leaving you with a simple final bill.
